Short Answer: Maybe?
Hello, this is TheTechBoy. At 599 dollars, the A71 5G is a laudable phone. The screen is a bright, 6.7 inch, flat, 60 HZ display. The battery is a large 4500 mAh battery. The phone features a quad camera and a headphone jack.
Cameras
There are four cameras on the back of the phone and one punch hole selfie camera. The main camera is a 64 MP main shooter, a 12 MP ultra-wide, a 5 MP macro, and a 5 MP depth sensor. The front camera is a 32 MP camera. The main feature of the S20 is zoom, unfortunately, the A71 5G does not have an optical zoom camera.
The phone defaults to 16 MP mode when taking photographs, but the 64 MP mode can be turned on in the camera settings. The pictures look good in decent light. The ultra-wide sensor is good, while the depth and macro camera are alright, but the sensors could be better. The selfie camera does not show much detail but the photos are bright and nice looking. The camera supports AR Doodle.
Software
The A71 5G is running Android 10 with Samsung One UI 2.1. One UI 2.1 brings S20 camera features like Single Take. Popular features such as the Screen Recorder and the Edge Screen are intact. The software is fluid and easy to use. Gestures are enabled, but personally, I like the buttons better. Game Mode and Bixby are on the phone, along with Link to Windows. Unfortunately, there is no Dex Support. (What is Samsung Dex?) The phone will be upgraded to Android 13.
Security
The phone features a secure optical fingerprint scanner and a less secure Face Unlock option. The phone will receive a quarterly security update. The phone also has a Secure Folder option, where a fingerprint, face, pin, or Samsung account password is needed to unlock chosen apps and media. When turning off the phone you may be required to enter your pin or password, as a security measure if your phone is lost or stolen.
Hardware
The 8 GB of Ram enables the phone to be fluid when browsing or running apps in the background. The phone features the ability to connect to 5G networks using a Snapdragon 765G chip or an Exynos 980. The phone features USB-C and has the ability to charge up to 25 watts. The phone back is plastic, while the screen is Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The sides are made out of aluminum.
Call Reception and Battery Life
The sound quality is fine and the calls are nice and crisp. The sound is good when played in headphones. The 4,500 mAh battery has an impressive two-day battery life and will get you through the day.
Conclusion
If you want a phone under 600 dollars the will take decent pictures, connect to 5G, and be an overall good phone the A71 5G is an excellent pick. If you want a phone with one of the best cameras, wireless charging, 5G, and Dex support the S20 series is for you.
