What is Windows 11?
Windows 11 is a major release of Windows after Windows 10. Windows 11 adds and takes away some features. Here are 3 good things and 2 bad things about Windows 11.
1. Good: 3rd Party Apps
Windows 11 allows for other applications to be added to the Microsoft Store. Firefox is one example of a 3rd party application that is in the Microsoft Store. Another new feature of the Microsoft Store is the inclusion of the Amazon Appstore. This will allow Android applications to be run on your computer.
2. Bad: Microsoft Account
Windows 11 Home forces users to set up the computer by using a Microsoft account. Users have to be connected to the internet and create a Microsoft account when they buy the computer. However, when you finish setting up the Windows machine, you can go back and create a local account. Some people may not have or want to set up a Microsoft account. Fortunately, Windows 11 Pro allows a local account to be set up on startup.

3. Good: Security
TPM (Trusted Platform Model) 2.0 is required for Windows 11 to be used on authorized devices. According to Microsoft, TPM 2.0, "Is a chip that is either integrated into your PC’s motherboard or added separately into the CPU. Its purpose is to help protect encryption keys, user credentials, and other sensitive data behind a hardware barrier so that malware and attackers can’t access or tamper with that data." In this day and age, data is very important and should be protected.
4. Bad: Features Removed
In Windows 11, Live Tiles, taskbar options, and Cortana setup are all gone. Live tiles show information from certain apps and are kind of like applications on a phone home screen. The taskbar can only be moved to the bottom and it cannot be moved to the top or side of the screen. Depending on the type of monitor, having the taskbar on the top or side would be advantageous. Cortana setup was a nice feature where you could talk to Cortana to select certain settings when setting up. Because some people did not appreciate this feature, it should be an option to choose in Windows 11.
5. Good: Virtual Desktops
There is an icon on the taskbar that allows virtual desktops to be switched with just a click, instead of a weird swiping motion.
Update: Windows 10 has this feature, but the Windows 11 icon looks better.
This makes switching desktops way easier than the motion and could entice more people to use this nice feature. Tech Talk To You Later!!
