1. Samsung Note vs Redmi Note:
The Samsung Note was released in October 2011 with 16/32 GB of storage and 1 GB of RAM. It has a 2,500 mAh battery, a 5.3-inch screen, and a stylus. The Redmi Note was released in March of 2014, and it had a 5.5-inch screen, 8GB of storage, and 1/2 GB of RAM. It features a 13 MP camera and a 3,200 mAh battery. Because Xiaomi's phone has a better phone. It has a better camera (megapixels) and battery life. However, Samsung's offering has more storage and a stylus. The Xiaomi processor is also better than Samsung's offering. In conclusion, the Xiaomi phone barely wins.
2. Samsung Note 2 vs Redmi Note 2:
The Samsung Note 2 made a lot of improvements over the Note One. It has a larger 5.5-inch screen and an 8 MP camera. It also got a RAM upgrade and a storage improvement. 16-64 GB of storage. The Redmi Note 2 did get a later version of Android over Samsung's offering and had a storage bump. 16-32 GB of storage. This phone is also three years newer than the Samsung Note (2012 vs 2015). However, Samsung's 3,100 mAh battery beats the 3,060mAh battery of the Redmi. The Redmi also does not have a RAM bump and the processor of the Samsun losses badly to the Redmi. Also, the camera on Xiaomi has more megapixels. Therefore the Xiaomi wins this round.
3. Samsung Note 3 vs Redmi Note 3:
The Redmi Note 3 has a 5.5-inch screen while Samsung's offering has a 5.7-inch screen. The Samsung also has more storage and The Redmi Note has a fingerprint scanner, a slightly better processor, and a better camera. The Redmi also beats the Note 3 in battery life for the first time since the Redmi Note 1 (in this review). Also, the Redmi has a more recent version of Android than Samsung. For these reasons, the Redmi beats Samsung for the third time in a row.
4. Samsung Note 4/Edge vs Redmi Note 4:
The Samsung Note 4 and Samsung Note Edge have 5.7 and 5.6-inch screens respectively. They also have 3200 mAh and 3000 mAh batteries respectively. They both have a fingerprint scanner and up to 64 GB of storage. The Redmi does have a 5.5-inch screen, an upgrade to Android 7, and a 13 MP camera. It also has a larger (pretty substantial) 4,100 mAh battery. The Samsung Note does have a 16 MP camera and an ever so slightly better processor and as always the S-Pen. However, the battery life on the Redmi Note is better than Samsung's battery. However, we are giving the win to the Samsung device because of the camera, screen, and S-Pen. Also, the processor is barely better.
5. Samsung Note 5 vs Redmi Note 5 Pro:
The Samsung Note 5 was revolutionary. It did not feature a Micro-SD card slot and it featured a glass back. The Note 5 Pro also featured a near-bezeless design (for 2018) and had an expansive 5.99-inch display larger than the Note 5's 5.7-inch display. The Note 5 Pro also had 4 to 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable storage. The Note 5 did have a larger 128 GB storage option and a 3000 mAh battery. The Note 5 Pro however has a larger 4000 mAh battery (no endurance rating listed on GSM arena) so we will assume it has a better battery than the Note 5. Also the Note 5 Pro has a 12 MP shooter rather than the 16 MP shooter on the Samsung, but I am pretty sure the camera is better on the Redmi. Also, the Snapdragon chip on the Xiaomi just eeks out a win over Samsung's Exynos, and the Redi has more RAM to boot. The Redmi also has Android 7.1.2 over the Note 5's Android 7. The Note 5 Pro wins.
6. Samsung S6 Edge+ vs Redmi Note 6 Pro:
Samsung decided to release an S6 Edge+ over a Note. It has minor improvements over the Note 5. It has the same 3000 mAh battery and a 5.7-inch screen. This phone also continued the trend of not having a Micro-SD card slot, a 16 MP camera, and 4 GB of RAM. The Note 6 Pro has a Notch and 3-6 GB of RAM it also has a 4000 mAh battery that has a higher endurance rating over the S6 edge+. The screen is also 6.26 inches which is larger than the S6 edge+ screen. Both phones have 32/64 GB of storage but the Note 6 Pro has expandable storage. Also, both phones feature the same chip as their predecessors. The Redmi Note 6 Pro wins.
7. Samsung Note 7 vs Redmi Note 7 Pro:
The Samsung Note 7 would have probably trounced the Redmi phone but it had the inconvenient issue of blowing up in your hands therefore the Redmi Note 7 wins.
8. Samsung Note FE vs Redmi Note 7 Pro
After recalling the Samsung Note 7, Samsung released the 5.7-inch Samsung Note FE which was molded after the infamous Note 7. This phone marks the return of the (non-exploding) Note and the return of the Micro SD card slot (on non-exploding) Notes. The Note 7 Pro has more storage than the Note FE and it has Android 10 rather than the FE's Android 9 update. The Note FE also has a smaller 3200 mAh battery; the Note 7 Pro has a 4,000 mAh battery. The processor of the Redmi Note is only one point better than the Exynos on the Samsung, but the Note 7 Pro has more RAM. The Note 7 Pro has a 48 MP camera and a 6.3-inch screen. So even though I like the Note FE, I will give the Note 7 Pro a win here just barely.
9. Samsung Note 8 vs Redmi Note 8 Pro:
The Samsung Note 8 has a 6.3-inch screen, an iris scanner, and a fingerprint scanner. The Samsung Note 8 also has a dual camera with 256 GB of storage, and 6 GB of RAM. The Note 8 Pro also has 256 GB of storage, 8 GB of RAM, and a massive 4500 mAh battery. It also has a 64 MP camera and a massive 6.53-inch screen. The Note 8 has a telephoto lens while the Note 8 Pro does not. The Exynos chip in the Note 8 is worse than the MediaTek processor. It should be noted that the Samsung Note 8 does have a Snapdragon chip. However, the battery life and speed should be better on the Redmi is better but, the build quality, camera, Dex S-Pen, and iris scanner may sway the buyers towards Samsung.
10. Samsung Note 9 vs Redmi Note 9 Pro:
The Samsung Note 9 (6.4-inch screen) was a major spec bump over the Note 8. It had a large 4,000 mAh battery, 512 GB of expandable storage, and a 12 MP camera with a telephoto zoom. The Note 9 Pro (6.67-inch screen) has a punch hole camera and 128 GB of storage supplanted by a Micro-SD card slot. There is a 64-megapixel non-zoom camera. It also has a 5020 mAh battery that barely beats the battery of the Note 9's. (the optimization may not be as good). The Exynos processor of the Note 9 is also better than the Snapdragon on the Redmi. The Note 9 also has the software features and iris scanner of the Note 8 so the Note 9 beats the Note 9 Pro. Both phones will run Android 10.
11. Samsung Note 10+ vs Redmi Note 10 Pro
The Note 10+ has expandable storage and a 6.8-inch screen. It also drops the iris scanner and replaces it with an in-screen fingerprint scanner and a punch hole camera. It also has 12 GB of RAM and a 4300 mAh battery. It also has a TOF camera, a wide, ultra-wide, and zoom camera. It also has 512 GB of expandable storage. The Note 10 Pro is a minor upgrade over the Note 9 Pro. It has a 108 MP camera and a 6.67-inch screen and a 5020 mAh battery. The battery life is better than the Samsung, but Samsung's cameras should make quick work of the 'good on paper' camera setup of the Note 10 Pro. Samsung also has better software features, a better processor, and more RAM.
12. Samsung Note 20 Ultra 5G vs Redmi Note 11 Pro
The Note 20 Ultra has a 6.9-inch screen and 512 GB of storage. It also features an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner. It has more RAM the Note 11 Pro and it has more (expandable) storage. 512 GB vs 64/128 GB (expandable). It also is very apparent the the Note 20 Ultra destroys the chipset and cameras of the Note 11 Pro. The Note 20 Ultra is better than the Note 11 Pro.
Conclusion:
I was shocked by the results. Because of the release, Xiaomi beat Samsung's flagship offerings up until the Note 8/9. Also, I discussed the international versions of the Samsung flagships. I did not choose the Snapdragon models. (I forgot about the split and stuck with it.) The Redmi Notes performed very well in this contest. It should be noted that the Xiaomi phones are budget phones and the Samsung phones are flagships, and they the Samsung phones were older than the Redmi Notes. This is not buying advice but rather a fun contest.
