Five Problems With Dex

Five Problems With Dex

Samsung Dex Text That Says "Contact Us, Lock Dex, and Exit Dex"

1. YouTube Does Not Play In other Tabs

Youtube needs to be able to play in the background in, at least, Samsung Internet. This is useful for productivity and entertainment. Also for some reason, live chats do not load properly on Samsung Internet.

2. No Inspect Menu/Desktop Class Browser

There needs to be an inspect menu for browsers this would help web developers do their job and would open up plenty of opportunity for more DEX users to switch, especially with new laptop docks and monitors coming out. Two finger tapping also does not highlight text  most of the time, and somotimes Autofill only works on the touchscreen.

A desktop-class browser would also mean we could have extensions (like Grammarly) and connect external cameras and share screens with streaming services such as Streamyard. (UserLand has a desktop Firefox in the PlayStore but I could not try it out as it is paid.)

3. No External Camera Support

If applications such as Zoom, Streamyard, Teams, Streamlabs, etc, allowed external USB cameras and mics more work could be done such as video calls, podcasting, streaming etc. Instead, we have stripped down versions of these applications more suited to a Monitor-less DEX-less phone. Also, wired headphones did not work though it may be my dongle.

4. Virtulazation Support

An official Virtual Machine application that would let you run desktop applications in Windows. Maybe even ChromeOS which has a desktop-class browser that supports the inspect menu and extensions. I have written about this here

5. Passwords

In a recent update, Samsung added the ability to have passwords that are longer than 16 digits. However, if you try to type it in using the external keyboard you can only type in the first 16 digits so unlocking from the touchscreen is best.

Samsung needs to show off this capability. Many users do not know about it and it could differentiate them from iPhones. Samsung needs people to use it more so it does not die off as a lost feature.

God Bless and Tech Talk To You Later!!!
