One UI 7 Broke My Phone

One UI 7 Broke My Phone

—into a million beautiful pieces.

I finally got my One UI 7 update and got to play with it over the few days, and honestly, it looks better than I thought. The icons don't look as bad as I thought they would; the animations are great, but there are still some things missing.

I like the redesigned buttons and the search bar at the bottom, which I will get used to. The notifications are big and look good, and the OS just looks and feels overall more shiny. It could be better, though.

First of all, the widget situation is abysmal. Sure, you can add new lockscreen widgets, but you have to unlock the phone to use them. Goodbye recording from the lockscreen. I had fully programmed the back button to activate the recorder, which worked while locked.

Speaking of buttons, unfortunately, my Good Lock button module is gone for the time being, as well as adding edge panels. Hot take here, but I don't think features should be removed. Bring back file sharing via NFC, bring back using the ginger as a pop-up view, the microSD card slot, and heart rate sensor. You add a feature; you keep a feature.

In all, this software is fluid and has some improvements I like, like the 120Hz mode on power saving. I like the AI features that seem faster, and the software redesign is great; however, removed features are not good, as is the switch to a vertical only app drawer.

God bless and Tech Talk To You Later!!
