How to Fake a Poster on Your Wall Using PicsKit

Hello, this is TheTechBoy with a special article.

Trolling people is fun. In an effort to boost engagement, I claimed that I have a life-size poster of someone in my room. Anyone even remotely familiar with TheTechBoy Media knows how absurd that is.

But let’s pretend for a moment. Today, I’ll show you how to fake a poster on your wall using nothing but your phone and PicsKit.

The first step is taking a picture of your room. This serves as the base image, capturing the details of your wall or door. If you try to add a fake background instead, it will look obviously artificial. Once you have the picture, download the image of the poster you want to fake, along with a crumpled piece of paper. These elements will help create a more realistic effect.

After importing the images into PicsKit, place the poster on the wall and stretch it to the correct size. Then, duplicate the layer and place it directly over the original. Instead of leaving it as is, replace the duplicate with the crumpled paper. This will serve as the texture layer to make the poster appear more natural.

Next comes the blending. PicsKit offers several blending options, but Normal, Linear Burn, and Color Burn tend to work best.

Play around with them to see which gives the most convincing crumpled effect. If the image looks too bright or too smooth, applying some grain and a partial black-and-white filter can help. Adjusting these elements can make the final image feel more integrated into the scene.

Once the blending is complete, merge the layers together.

Select both the crumpled paper and the poster, then merge them into a single image. Position the final product on the wall or door, making sure it aligns naturally with the surroundings. If the wall is at an angle, use the Perspective tool to tilt the poster accordingly. Be aware that this may create artifacts, so some manual touch-ups might be necessary.

And there you have it—a convincing, completely fake poster on your wall. Whether you’re pranking someone or just experimenting with digital art, this method is a fun way to enhance your editing skills.

God bless, and tech talk to you later!
