How I Created a Custom Wiki About Myself

     NotebookLM is finally working for me again! With over 100 videos transcribed by YouTube across multiple channels, I decided it was time to create a personal wiki about myself and my views. NotebookLM is great for this, but manually importing each video would be tedious and time-consuming. So, I used the YouTube to NotebookLM extension (linked here) to automate the process.

    Simply navigate to your YouTube channel or playlist and click the “NotebookLM” button. This automatically sends all the videos to your NotebookLM notebook. Free users can upload up to 50 sources, while paid users can have up to 300. Thankfully, Google offers a 14-day free trial—which you can cancel after creating your wiki.

    NotebookLM can generate mind maps, but I found that feature a bit lacking. Instead, I prompted it to “create a wiki” and asked for as much detail as possible. The first draft it produced was surprisingly solid—about 97% accurate. You’ll need to keep prompting it for depth, though. If you cancel your subscription and simply copy-paste the content, your sources won’t remain linked.

    You can also upload PDFs and websites, and the software generally does a good job. However, if you run a show like mine, it might confuse your content with videos you’ve reacted to. For example, it mixed up parts of MrWhotheBoss’s biography with mine and thought the Notebook from Project MC² (Addison) was a real-life tablet! Adjusting the chat settings can help you get longer and more accurate responses.

    After some prompting and attempts to combine sources, I created a new notebook and imported SSALTW (which failed) and TheTechBoy.org (which succeeded). Finally, I combined all the wikis into one using ChatGPT—which I found did a better job than Gemini at building the final wiki, however it wasnt the best. I decided to cobble together the best parts.
