Skates And Scoots Review

Electric scooters are cool. They help you transport yourself from place to place quickly without having to exert much movement in the heat. They can truly be a blessing; however, what if you need to transport more than just yourself or your friends, what if you need to transport drinks? That’s where Skates & Scoots comes in.The cup holder is a 3D-printed, two-piece contraption. The cup holder is retractable from the circular adjustable part that connects to the scooter.

It is adjusted via four screws that can be screwed in and out to accommodate different scooters, and the cup slides right in. It really is a genius design and is very durable. On the inside of this clamp lies a hollow to hide an AirTag (no SmartTag or Tile support yet), and it is very stable. Now, inside the cup, there is an opening to help get the drinks out, some rubber to help steady the drinks, and a drainage hole at the bottom. The construction is second to none. However, this is to carry drinks, not to admire. I tested it with three drinks: a Chick-fil-A milkshake, Jamba Juice (medium), and a cup that had a tiny opening for your mouth/straw that was 75% filled. I drove at regular speeds with the Chick-fil-A one, even over bumpy roads.

It felt safe, and the only challenge was getting it out. The cup was too short to be properly graspable, and I was scared it would spill out of the top. For the Jamba Juice one, the cup holder was too wide for it, so it jostled around in there more than I would have liked, though the rubber inserts kept it relatively safe. However, the third cup was a disaster. The juice slipped around, and while the scooter has a relatively smooth ride, every slight shake and bump transferred to the drink.

There is NO dampening on the bottom of the cup holder, just the sides, and if the cup is too small to be held securely, then these promises of summer are moot. The drink spilled all over the scooter and made it sticky, and now bees buzz around it.

I wish this were adjustable to a specific cup; instead, there is a small and a large one. However, if your cup fits the scooter, then it is a good buy. The engineering is complex, and it probably uses more plastic than needed to make that sleek design, but those extra material costs are passed on to you. The cup holders start at 20 dollars. 3.5/5 stars. God bless tech talk to you later!!
