Instagram Edits has a HUGE problem.
Instagram Edits is one of my favorite video editing applications for short-form video. According to Instagram, they give you a small bump in views when you use the app. It’s rapidly adding features, including the ability to auto-caption, add overlays, and there’s a built-in teleprompter if you record.

However, it has a major problem. When working with high-quality video (FHD 30fps) from my S24 Ultra, it lags a lot. When I import videos into the timeline (sometimes I skip the ‘optimization’), I’ll edit for a bit and then it will stop loading. It shows the videos as gray on the timeline, or the play button will disappear. Sometimes the videos will play but then freeze. I try to fix this by clicking the back button, but often I have to close the entire app multiple times to get it to load. It’s annoying and inefficient — especially since my phone has 12 GB of RAM and a Snapdragon chip. It’s no slouch.
Another problem IG Edits has is the lack of professional graphics. You have “social media” text styles, but for any proper intros, text, or title cards, it’s lacking in that department. Lastly, the captions are a little too inaccurate and limited for my taste. There aren’t many features, and the transcription often seems worse than Instagram’s own video caption tech… which doesn’t even make sense because it’s made by the same company. God bless and Tech Talk To You Later!!!
