Xreal Releases Sub 300 Dollar Smart Glasses
I believe that smart glasses that harness the power of your phone like Metas Ai glasses and the Xreal glasses are the future of computing and not smartphone replacement glasses like the Snapchat glasses. The phone is just too perfect and too coinvent at least un the 2020s.
Meta’s AI glasses and Xreal’s lineup have been leading this charge. I was genuinely excited to learn about Xreal’s latest release under their new X by Xreal (xbx) sub-brand: the a01 AR glasses priced at just 299 dollars. This feels like the best implementation yet of the concept. These are affordable lightweight glasses that project your phone’s screen into a massive private display.

For under 300 dollars you are getting impressive specs that punch well above the price tag. The glasses deliver up to 1600 nits of peak brightness which is brighter than many higher-end Xreal models. They offer a massive 147-inch virtual screen equivalent to a view from about four meters away with a 50-degree field of view. They support a 120Hz refresh rate with spatial anti-shake technology. Dual-layer Micro OLED displays bring HDR10 support and real-time AI SDR-to-HDR conversion for better contrast and color.
These glasses connect via USB-C to your phone laptop tablet or handheld gaming device such as a Steam Deck or ROG Ally. They turn it into a personal big-screen theater. No built-in battery means they stay lightweight and rely on your phone’s power. This is a smart trade-off that keeps the focus on the display experience. At just 62 grams and even lighter at 56 grams with the front frame removed they are among the lightest AR display glasses available. Swappable front frames let you customize the look with Sport Stealth and Classic styles. Thoughtful comfort features like adjustable nose pads and flexible temples make them suitable for long sessions whether you are commuting traveling or watching in bed.

Smartphone-replacement glasses often feel like a compromise with underpowered processors short battery life and high prices. Your phone already excels at everything from apps to processing power battery cameras and connectivity. Pairing it with capable display glasses like the Xreal a01 extends that power into an immersive private large-screen format without forcing you to carry another full computer on your face. The anti-shake stabilization is particularly clever for real-world use on planes trains or in cars. It keeps the image steady without sacrificing sharpness or color. This is practical innovation that makes these glasses usable in daily life not just a novelty.
At 299 dollars which is cheaper than many midrange tablets the Xreal a01 lowers the barrier to entry for high-quality spatial displays significantly. They are available now in China and expected to launch in the US in July 2026. God bless and Tech Talk To You Later!!!
