If you watched the Apple Event last week, you may have noticed something missing: there is no iPhone 18. The average American is holding on to their phones for almost three years (2 yrs 8 months per the smartphone lifespan report), and in past years, the Pro series of devices out-sold the iPhone 17 series per Counterpoint Research. People just want the bigger screens and new designs, it seems, and apparently people do not care that they are, in my opinion, overpaying for the telephoto camera. (Compare the iPhone 17 to comparable phones like the S25/26 series and the Pixel 11.)

Thus, Apple will realize that the iPhone 18 Pro is surging in popularity and will probably get more expensive phones out the door for the Christmas rush. The iPhone 18 is expected to debut in 2027 alongside the iPhone 18e series.

TheTechBoy Take On ‘Ridiculous’ Instagram Ban

Does the iPhone 17 hold up for use today? While its competition might be better, especially compared to Samsung’s S series, many people I have talked to say their favorite applications are Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok, all of which run fine on the iPhone 17. Many users like to directly post to these applications, and Apple seems to have a deeper integration with these services, with Samsung slightly behind. However, I just use my phone’s native camera then upload, so it is fine for me in my opinion.

God bless, and tech talk to you later!!!
