Hello World…literally. Amid people protesting data centers here on Earth, claiming they take all the water, are making them sick, and expressing a general dislike for big, “scary looking,” ugly buildings, Google launched a satellite containing an AI data center running the Google Gemma 4 AI model. Google sent a prompt to have it write a haiku, which returned: “Blue marble below / Data streams in silent grace / Starlight feeds my core.” The satellite will now test how the Tensor Processing Units perform in space, especially against the radiation that can cause data corruption in the unforgiving vacuum of space. Back here on Earth, Apple made the space on the screen of their MacBook Pro more useful, bringing touch back to the Mac for the first time since the Touch Bar.
Apple introduced the all-new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display, featuring breakthrough tandem OLED technology across 14-inch and 16-inch models. The display delivers up to 2000 nits peak HDR and SDR brightness, an industry-leading 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and broad color coverage for both P3 and Adobe RGB. Touch capabilities are integrated directly into the display panel to reduce latency, allowing users to draw, play onscreen instruments, and navigate macOS 27 with natural gestures. The Dynamic Island also makes its Mac debut to house Spotlight, Live Activities, and Siri AI. Driven by M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, up to 128GB of unified memory, and up to 16TB of storage, the lighter 3-pound and 4-pound designs offer up to 24 hours of battery life, starting at $2,899 with pre-orders beginning October 28 ahead of November 6 availability.
Don’t laugh; we have AI screwdrivers now, and it is not as useless as it seems. Arrowmax released a $199 screwdriver that can identify screws with a tiny camera onboard. Once it gets a clear read, a local screw identification model running on your phone will tell you what kind of screw it is, and then you will be able to interchange it for the many screwheads that come in the kit. God bless and tech talk to you later!!
