Samsung X Perplexity Comes to PC

Samsung Electronics has officially released Samsung Browser for Windows, extending its popular mobile browsing experience to desktop computers for the first time. The launch introduces deep cross-device continuity between Galaxy phones and PCs, along with new agentic AI features powered by a partnership with Perplexity, aimed at simplifying complex web tasks and making browsing more intuitive.

The new browser builds on Samsung’s long-standing mobile browser (previously known as Samsung Internet) by bridging the gap between smartphones and Windows PCs. Users can now seamlessly continue browsing sessions as they switch devices, picking up exactly where they left off on a webpage rather than just syncing bookmarks or history. Additional conveniences include integration with Samsung Pass, which securely autofills login credentials and personal information across devices, streamlining sign-ins and form filling.

Agentic AI Assistant Enhances Browsing

At the core of the update is a built-in AI-powered assistant developed in partnership with Perplexity. This tool goes beyond basic queries by understanding the context of the current webpage, activity across open tabs, and natural language commands. It enables users to take meaningful actions without leaving the browser, such as managing tabs, navigating history, and generating content based on viewed pages.

Key AI capabilities include:

  • Intelligent Content Understanding: The browser analyzes the page you’re viewing and provides tailored responses. For example, while researching a trip to Seoul on an open webpage, users can ask it to generate a customizable four-day itinerary.
  • Context-Aware Video Navigation: It can interpret video content and jump directly to specific moments based on user requests, eliminating manual scrubbing.
  • Natural Language History Search: Instead of relying on keywords or dates, users can describe what they’re looking for (e.g., “the smartwatch I viewed last week”) to quickly retrieve pages from browsing history.
  • Multi-Tab Summarization and Comparison: The AI can analyze and summarize information across multiple open tabs simultaneously, delivering key insights in a single view—ideal for research or comparison tasks.

These agentic AI features are currently available in South Korea and the United States on both Samsung Browser for Windows and the Android version (requiring version 29.0.4 or higher and a Samsung Account). Samsung plans to expand availability to additional markets in the future. Note that some functions may vary by region due to regulatory differences, and results are not guaranteed to be 100% accurate.

Availability and Requirements

Samsung Browser for Windows is now available for download on devices running Windows 11 and Windows 10 (version 1809 and later). It is accessible globally following its exit from beta.

For full cross-device continuity features, including picking up webpages and Samsung Pass integration:

  • Users need the latest Samsung Account.
  • The Galaxy Connect app or Samsung Continuity Service must be installed on the PC.
  • Initial support is for Galaxy Book3, 4, 5, and 6 series, with broader device compatibility planned.

This move positions Samsung Browser as a potential alternative to mainstream options like Google Chrome, especially for users already in the Galaxy ecosystem. It combines familiar mobile design elements with productivity-focused AI tools that leverage webpage and tab context in practical ways. Samsung has indicated that further expansions and enhancements are expected as it continues to integrate AI more deeply across its devices. God bless and tech talk to you later!!
